how this change contributed to the Protestant Reformation. (Renaissance) - CORRECT
ANSWER- ✔✔The Church changed the practice of granting indulgences by the late 1400s
by making it so that you could only buy the indulgences because it used to be that you had to
do good deeds. This change contributed to the protestant reformation because the people
believed that you should not be able to buy your way into heaven and that only God had the
power to bring people to heaven and decided they should make their own church.

Renaissance. What does the word renaissance mean? Do you think this name accurately
describes this period in history? Explain why or why not. (Renaissance) - CORRECT
ANSWER- ✔✔The word renaissance means rebirth (in a social, political, cultural way). I
think this name accurately describes this period in time because it was a time where all of
Europes's problems were being fixed and they were getting out of the dark ages it was called
the age of reawakening.

views influence their ideas on the proper role of government? (Enlightenment) - CORRECT
ANSWER- ✔✔The views of John Locke and Thomas Hobbes were very different. Locke
believed that people were mostly nice and good and believed that the people deserved the
, three natural laws, life, libert, and the right to own property. Hobbes believed the total
opposite he believed that people were born bad and greedy and that they should not have any
choices. These ideas made both of their ideas of the right government also different Locke
believed they should have a democracy but also let the people be allowed to overthrow it if
they were failing to protect and Hobbes believed that there should be an absolute monarchy
and the people should get no choices.
How might the outcome of the American Revolution have been different if France had not
participated? Explain. (Enlightenment) - CORRECT ANSWER- ✔✔The outcome of the
American Revolution could have been drastically different if not for the help of the French.
The outcome could have been that the Americans lost the war and we could have been
defeated and been under the rule of the British for a while longer. If the French had not
helped the Americans the British could've won. Also, when the French joined some close
followers were the Spanish and the Netherlands. The French also brought with them soldiers,
supplies and a navy without these it would have been really hard for the Americans to beat
the British. The French really only joined when the Americans won the battle of Saratoga and
that was a major help for them.
Describe the divisions of France's social structure before the French Revolution. How were
these conditions related to the storming of Bastille? (French Revolution) - CORRECT
ANSWER- ✔✔There were three divisions or estates in France's social structure before the
French Revolution. The first estate was the clergy, they did not have to pay taxes. The second
estate was the monarchs and nobles, they also did not have to pay taxes. Then the third estate
was the middle and lower class they had to pay all the taxes, the were also split up into three
groups, the Bourgeoise, they were the middle class, then the rural peasants, they were the
farmers who owned land, lastly the urban workers who were the poorest of the group and
very few owned any land. The issue with these three estates was that the voting procedure
was ran kind of like our own electoral college where each estate or class counted as one vote,
now each of the first two classes did not want to loose any of their power so they always
voted against the third estate and there was barely ever any change. These conditions were
related to the storming of Bastille because the storming of Bastille was done to hopefully
change these thing and help the third estate grow and get things done for the better.
Make Comparisons Compare and contrast the Jacobins and the sans-culottes. How were they
similar? How were they different? (French Revolution) - CORRECT ANSWER- ✔✔The
Jacobins and Sans-Culotte were both pretty similar in a few ways. One way because they
were both extremist and radical groups, a second similarity is that they both wanted to get rid
if the monarchy and 1st and 2nd estate. The two were different because the Jacobins were
much more wealthy than the Sans-Culotte and had a lot more say in the government because
they were represented in the assembly.
