Walter C. Clemens, Jr. Boston University, Professor Emeritus
If God does not exist, are good and evil just human constructs? To understand the essence
of human life, should we explore ordinary or extreme conditions? Exploring apologies for
bloodshed, Morson adapts Mikhail Bakunin’s concept of the non-alibi—that no one can escape
responsibility for his or her actions. A pervasive theme in Russian literature traced by Morson is
how the aspiration to relieve human suffering can lead to profound empathy or bloodthirsty
tyranny. High ideals can p...

The Polemical Cosmogony in the Doxologies of Amos (4:13; 5:8; 9:5–6)
In 1875, the esteemed German scholar Bernhard Duhm made a significant
observation regarding Amos 4:13; 5:8–9; and 9:5–6.1 He pointed out that these
units deviate from their context in terms of literary, syntactic, and lexical features. At the same time, they share common elements, such as cosmogonic
themes and the use of participial phrases concluding with the statement “his
name is YHWH.” Because of their hymnic nature, these units have come to be

The real history of (Clan) Gunn
I have written a detailed, fully referenced book called
The Gunns: History, Myths and Genealogy. You can buy
a print copy, see towards the bottom of page 2, do an
internet search or it can be read at

simplified version of that text; my evidence for many
comments in this book will be found in the larger one.
The reason I wrote the big book is that so much
traditional Clan Gunn history is a load of codswallop.
Yes, what currently masquerades as Gunn history is
essentially nothin...

This stela is registered with Accession No. 187 and is stored amongst the non-studied
