Lao Tzu and Confucius' Teachings Lao Tzu and Confucius are probably the most recognized teachers in ancient china. Confucius was born around 551 BC in Shantung province. His father died when he was still a child leaving his loving mother responsible for raising him. On the other hand, Lao Tzu was born around 604 BC; however, not much information is known about him.
