Unidad I: Osteología del cráneoTEMA 1: CONFIGURACIÓN EXTERNA
TEMA 2: CONFIGURACIÓN INTERNA
Encontramos 2 grandes regiones:
• NEUROCRÁNEO:
– Parte posterior del cráneo.
– Formando la bóveda de delante a atrás → Frontal – Parietales – Occipital
– Formando la parte lateral: Hueso esfenoides (que luego formará parte de la
base) – Hueso temporal
– Justo en el centro de la fosa nasal encontramos el Hueso etmoides.
, • VISCEROCRÁNEO:
– Parte anterior del cráneo ( su función es la de protege los órganos de los
sentidos)
– Huesos nasales – Hueso maxilar – Lagrimal (unguis) – Hueso malar (cigomático)
– En la fosa nasal encontramos: Cornete inferior – Vómer
– Justo por detrás del maxilar encontramos el Hueso palatino. Y finalmente, la
mandíbula, único que va a tener capacidad de movimiento.
Todos ellos articulados a través de SINOSTOSIS (suturas) menos la mandíbula que tiene
articulación móvil.
Sin embargo, en un principio están unidos mediante articulaciones de tipo SINDESMOSIS
(membrana), no por suturas. Se van a establecer además grandes zonas membranosas
que se conocen con el nombre de fontanelas.
,Fontanelas:
• La + grande de todas: FONTANELA ANTERIOR → FRONTALES / PARIETALES
Entre los huesos frontales que inicialmente son 2 (que luego acabará siendo un
solo hueso frontal) y los huesos parietales. Esta fontanela es la última que se va
suturando, y lo hace en torno a los 2 años. Cuando se cierra, encontraríamos la
sutura CORONAL, que sirve de articulación entre el frontal y los parietales, en el
centro confluye con la sutura SAGITAL, que es la sutura de articulación entre los
parietales.
Justo ese punto de confluencia entre ambas suturas se conoce con el nombre de
BREGMA.
, • La segunda fontanela: FONTANELA POSTERIOR → PARIETALES / OCCIPITAL
Fontanela situada entre los parietales y el occipital. Esa fontanela es la primera
que cierra, en torno al mes o dos meses de vida. Esa osificación da lugar a la
sutura LAMBOIDEA, entre parietales y occipital, y justo en el centro de esa sutura,
esta confluye con la sutura sagital. Ese punto de confluencia es lo que conocemos
como punto LAMBDA.
• En las partes laterales del cráneo encontramos dos fontanelas. Una antero-lateral y
otra postero-lateral. Una de ellas a cada lado.
a) ANTERO-LATERAL: La segunda fontanela que va a cerrar, en torno a los 3
meses. Va a quedar situada entre el hueso frontal, el parietal, el esfenoides y el
temporal. Una vez cerrada la fontanela nos encontramos con el punto PTERION.
FRONTAL – PARIETAL – ESFENOIDES – TEMPORAL
b) POSTERO-LATERAL: Situada entre el hueso temporal, parietal y occipital.
Sutura que cerrará en torno al año. Cuando esta fontanela se osifica, da lugar al
punto ASTERION.
