Annual Reports
When it is time for home improvement projects there several building supply stores you
can choose from. Two of the most well-known and popular are Home Depot and Lowes.
Annual reports from both of these companies were used because they are both in the same
industry, are well-known, and are frequented by the same type of customers. According to
Lowe’s Report, (2019) “At February 1, 2019, our properties consisted of 2,002 stores in the U.S.
and Canada with a total of approximately 209 million square feet of selling space” (pg. 13). The

brands and good quality building materials and showed an increase in sales throughout 2018,
their annual reports do differ from one another though. The Home Depot (2019), “Our strong
performance in fiscal 2018 positions us well with respect to our 2020 financial targets” (pg. 2).
Lowe’s (2019), “We believe we can deliver even stronger results going forward by focusing on
retail fundamentals” (pg. 1). The Home Depot is focused more on financial goals in their report
while Lowe’s is more focused on continuing to provide the best retail experience for their
