The P.E.R.I.E. Process

Purdue University Global

PU120: Introduction to Public Health

, THE P.E.R.I.E. PROCESS 2

Epidemiological Transition and Evidence-Based Public Health

The public health concern that interests me that I choose to discuss in this assignment is asthma

in children that live in the inner cities. Asthma causes airways to narrow and swell, leading to the

production of extra mucus. Breathing becomes difficult, triggering coughing and a whistling

sound, referred to as wheezing when breathing out, and shortness of breath." (Mayo Clinic. 2020,

June 4).

Epidemiological Transition

Epidemiological Transition the approach used to observe the changes and patterns that a rate of

disease spreads in through a population, causing changes in fertility, life expectancy, mortality.

(Regelman, R., & Kirkwood, B. 2018 p.18).

Evidence-Based Public Health

Evidence-Based Public Health, according to (Regelman, R., & Kirkwood, B. 2018 p.25). It is

the foundation to analyze the problem by using five questions. The questions allow information

to put together to address the issue; this is called the P.E.R.I.E. process.
