To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing this letter of motivation to introduce myself beyond what my CV can convey
and explain why I am inclined towards applying to the Master of Economic and Consumer
Psychology.
Following my academic path, and particularly my degree in Psychology at the University of Kent,
psychology represented my main topic of interest and the underlying instrument to reflect upon
various sectors focused on human behaviour. The versatility of my studies contributes towards its
applicability and complementarity with other spheres of professional interest, such as consumer and
economic behaviour.

My personal strengths are not limited to my academic curriculum, but rather, learned
through personal experiences and extracurricular activities. I was born in Thailand and exposed to
cultural changes living in different cities in Italy, Iran, Austria and England. These experiences
contributed towards my international education allowing me to be engaged with languages such as
German, English, as well as Italian. Flexibility, adaptability and open mindedness are amongst my
personal characteristics.
Networks of people have fascinated me to the extent that I carried out volunteering work
within Student-run organisations and charity groups, for instance UNWG (United Nations
Women’s Guild in the United Nations office in Vienna). Here among others, I learned
transferable skills such as enquiring, team work and time management, listening, and delegating
within professional settings. Formulating strategies and concepts to promote the associations,
helped strengthening my interpersonal communication competences; the work implicated
planning and budgeting for fundraising purposes, helping me undertake responsibilities while
engaging in team-building activities.
In 2017, during the Summer break, I worked with “La Nostra Famiglia” sanitary structure
in Udine (Italy), volunteering in the sphere of education and recovery of atypically developing
children. This granted me with further moral responsibilities towards the need of support and
awareness about disabilities. Moreover, this experience allowed me to improve interpersonal
skills, whilst building new relationships with the children and the facilities’ personnel, offering a
self-enhancing experience in which I disposed of resilience and empathy.
However, during the volunteering I realized that I was more fascinated by businesses and
interested in people’s attitudes rather than the mental health sector, accordingly, I selected
subjects like “Motivation” and “Attitudes and Social Cognitions” for the following academic
year. Additionally, I became accustomed to conducting research and statistical social research
methods thanks to the practical inclinations of my bachelor and the Final Year Project that
allowed me to develop my own research about self-awareness and perception.

I am especially motivated to pursue a master’s in Social and Behavioural Sciences with the
modern and specific application within Economic and Consumer Psychology. I am curious about
the conceptual framework towards assessment of emotions in the context of consumer decisions as
taught in the Course “Emotions and (Ir)rationality in Economic Behaviour” and look forward to
developing an understanding of what is beneath buying decisions. The program would allow
gaining insight into what drives the influences of economic behaviour, understanding the ways
experts work, while acquiring analytic and deductive skills for the future. “The Psychology of
