deepening their understanding and appreciation of their tradition, will find the history of that
tradition to be of particular importance”(McGrath, pg.8, 2003).The author also makes a valuable
point if a "bible student does not understand proper church history how can they understand
Marin Luther's stand on the doctrine of faith vs what happened during other important
periods"(McGrath, pg.8, 2003)? A bible student must know and understand the origin of their
faith so that if they are ever challenged by non-believers or those who simply do not understand
their faith they can at least give an appropriate defense of the gospel. Biblical Theology is one
part of world history just as “cultural, social, political, and institutional factors which have
shaped the development of the church down the ages”(McGrath, pg.8, 2003). Example: Many
years ago, I was challenged by a person in Islam who challenged me to prove the ancestries of
Christianity after Abraham died, so I had to walk him through historical events that happened in
history to prove the legitimacy of Christianity. As a personal point, a bible studentshould have a
