Group development
A group helps in solving issues by coming up with innovative and creative solutions to the
problems they are tasked to do. This part of the paper looks at the development stages and
linking it to the case study of Woodson Foundation, school and the National Coalition for
Parental Involvement in Education (NCPIE).There are five stages of group development which
are; forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Forming stage involves the group
being assembled, where people are anxious and uncertain. Members get to know each other and
the task ahead of them to avoid conflicts and controversies. This stage helps the Woodson
Foundation to get to know, the stakeholders involved i.e. the NCPIE and the school district
representatives both their needs and their names so that they avoid conflicts in future when
working.
The second stage, storming, is where the members are comfortable in expressing their conflicts
since they have known each other (Mann, 1956). NCPIE had their conflict which was to ensure
that parental control and everyone based on different races, ethnic group and gender are involved
in helping in getting the best results. School district representatives also had their plight which
was the new jobs have to be unionized and have to operate in a way consistent with current
