In the current era of revolution, where the technology has been developed to enhance the
easiness of life in different areas such as way of living, entertainment, healthcare and so on, the
issues related to increasing cost cannot be ignored. In the field of healthcare management, the
high cost of quality health treatment creates issues for the individuals (Chandra, Kumar &
Ghildayal, 2011). The paper discussed the efforts of one public organization, Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and one private organization, Kaiser Family Foundation
(KFF) to manage the cost and quality of health care. In addition, current and proposed initiatives
by the selected public and private health care company to maintain high quality and control cost
are also discussed along with the implications for nursing staff.

In the healthcare sector, the business firms are facing the issue of increasing costs
because of limited resources and a shortage of medical staff, economic downturn, and aging
