The Home Improvement Law defines the term "home improvement" very broadly

in order to include a number of activities:

The addition to or alteration, conversion, improvement, modernization,

remodeling, repair, or replacement of a building or part of a building that is used

or was designed to be used as a residence or dwelling place or a structure adjacent

to that building or an improvement to land adjacent to the building.

This means that work done to a residence, or part of a residence, or a structure

adjacent to a residence, such as a shed, garage, pool house, or guest house, falls

within this definition. Likewise, improvements done to the vard or land

surrounding a residence, such as building a pool, patio, or a wall, is also considered

home improvement.

The statute also provides specific examples of items included and excluded from

the scope of the Home improvement law
