Knob & 100% Switch (located under nose of mask):
Normal (one o'clock position)—regulator automatically supplies an ambient
air/oxygen mixture which varies with cabin altitude.
100% Switch—regulator supplies 100% oxygen regardless of cabin altitude.
EMERGENCY (four o'clock position)—regulator supplies 100% oxygen at a
slight positive pressure.
How are the emergency floor track strips charged? - ANSWER-79. SDM 7.7: These
strips are charged by the
ambient (available) light and will glow in the dark.
How are the emergency lights powered? - ANSWER-73.SDM: by four 6.4-volt Ni-Cad
battery packs located above the passenger compartment
in the vicinity of the forward and aft cabin exit doors.
How are the O2 masks "test & check" during the flighdeck preflight checklist? -
ANSWER-70.FSM 3.2.6: • Verify the hose is correctly attached.
• Verify the mask microphone jack is inserted in the correct jack position on the audio
jack panel.
• Test the oxygen mask by pressing the PRESS TO TEST button on the bottom of the
mask and
listening for oxygen flow.
• Lift the mask lens guard on the stowage cup. Inspect the lens for condition
(cleanliness, no scratches,
etc.) and verify the harness is NOT hooked over the diffuser at the front of the mask.
• Ensure the oxygen mask is secured in the bulkhead stowage cup and the lens guard is
completely
closed.
How can the emergency lights be manually activated? - ANSWER-75. EMER LIGHTS
switch=selecting ON activates all the emergency lights provided the emergency battery
packs are adequately
charged.
FAs can also activate the emergency lights with a guarded emergency light switch
located on the front cabin wall at the forward F/A station
