, Evaluation of Student Learning:
Examinations/Quizzes:
There will be 5 examinations administered in this course. Exams will be objective and utilize
NCLEX style questions to measure your progress on a sequential basis during the course.
Questions on the exams are derived from all sources of learning materials utilized in the course.
Examination format may include multiple choice; fill in the blank, and alternate format
questions. Examinations are administered through computerized testing to help mimic the
conditions you will encounter when you take the NCLEX as well as, providing several different
item analysis statistics which help faculty understand your performance as well as aggregate data
class performance on the exams.
NCLEX style questions are written using Bloom’s taxonomy. Bloom’s Taxonomy differentiates
between being able to recognize a concept and being able to use that concept at a higher level.
The Bloom’s levels of cognitive functioning are: Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze,
Evaluate, & Create. What does this mean? Answers to examination questions will not rely on
role memory. Instead, you will be tested on your knowledge and ability to critically think in
order to apply, analyze and evaluate health care situations.
Examinations are administered through computerized testing to help mimic the conditions you
will encounter when you take the NCLEX examination for licensure as well as, providing several
different item analysis statistics which help faculty understand your performance as well as
aggregate data class performance on the exams.
Course exams will be taken using examSoft, a digital assessment platform that offers test
providers the highest level of exam security with complete device control within one digital
assessment platform: A digital assessment platform that completely controls an exam taker’s
device can operate completely offline, without requiring a continuous internet connection during
the exam.
ExamSoft
Beginning the Fall 2022, the BSN programs will be using ExamSoft (electronic testing software)
in all classes. Exams are composed by faculty in ExamSoft. Student will then download the
exam in Examplify, an application downloaded to a computer that ensures students can complete
an assessment in a stable and offline environment.
Students must ‘Reboot’ their computers prior to entering the testing room and make sure that no
other processes are running other than Examplify.
