6 Types of Shock - ANSWER Distributive (complex), Septic (sepsis),

Symptoms: thirst, restlessness, decrease in urine output and low BP.

Anaphylactic Shock - ANSWER Caused by a severe allergic reaction.

Extensive hypoperfusion of tissues.

Presents as urticaria, brochospasms, and angioedema.




Neurogenic Shock - ANSWER Caused by spinal cord or brain injury.

Extensive hypoperfusion of tissues.

Widespread vasodilation reduces venous return and volume of blood that
can be pumped out of the ventricles and a low blood volume causes
widespread hypotension.




If the Neurogenic Shock inducing injury is in the upper thoracic area or
higher. - ANS there is a loss of SNS and PSNS discharge takes over.

decreased perfusion, myocardial and cerebral ischemia occur.

Widespread cellular hypoxia with extensive anaerobic metabolism occurs
throughout the body.
