growth of 15-20 eggs in each shell called follicle, trigger the production of estrogen, as estrogen
levels rise FSH is turned off and limits amount of follicles that will mature, one follicle in one
ovary will become dominant suppressing other follicles that die off, this follicle continues to
produce estrogen
