There is a world issue that involves rape and sexual assaults. More so the way they occur. For the
final project, I have focused on Date Rape. Date rape is used when an individual is forced into
sexual intercourse with another not well known to the victim. Date rapes are one of the most
prevalent types of rape cases, according to the United States Bureau of Justice Statistics, they are
the most common on college campuses and typically involve the use of date rape drugs and
alcohol. The predator normally would slip the drug into the drink for it to be undetectable.
While rape can happen anywhere at any time to anyone, it is more prevalent on college
campuses. Research has proven the statement as date rape is talked about more. For most
colleges, the policies surrounding date rape are following Title IX standards which are all about
how to prevent a sexual offense. Looking at Southern New Hampshire’s Title IX, within the
document the policy statement is that the policy of Southern New Hampshire University
prohibits all forms of Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment or Retaliation within its scope.
