The focus of my historical event analysis is the Cherokee Trail of Tears. In 1830, the
Indian Removal Act was enacted by Andrew Jackson, which forced the Cherokee nation to
relinquish their lands located east of the Mississippi River and relocate to an area in present-day
Oklahoma. The act was supposed to be a voluntary and peaceful agreement for tribes who
complied with the terms. The event of the Cherokee Trail of Tears was a significant occurrence
in history as it coerced the indigenous people to abandon their ancestral lands and embark on an
800-mile-long journey, traveling approximately 10 miles a day for several months. During
this time, more than 4,000 of the 15,000 Indians perished due to severe winter weather
