test exam questions and answers
"bustle"
The VERB bustle suggessts that eveyone is excited and busy for the
christmas feast ahead. Furthermore, this adds tensioned the scene,
highlighting the importance of the day to the reader , reinforcing
how greatful they are with so little. This scene also creates a
massive contrast between Scrooge on Christmas Day and the
Cratchit family, here Dickens is further highlighting the warmth and
love that friendship and family brings , something Scrooge missed
out on as a child and has isolated himself from in his future.
"A goose the rarest of all birds"
In Victorian times a goose was not the most luxurious or expensive
bird to eat, the facet that they refer to it as the 'rarest of all birds'
highlights the "delight" it bring to the whole family. Moreover, this
highlights to both Scrooge and the reader that you can enjoy life
with little.
(Ready beforehand in a little saucepan)

for Christmas dinner highlight the importance of it to her,
expressing to the reader how special this is to people who have so
little. This again offered a contrast between the way the rich and
the poor appreciate things.

excitement he has for a meal so small.

or very rare, something much like a miracle , something they didn't
expect to happen. This highlights how much they appreciate the
