duties authorized pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 1907,

subdivision (a) of Section 1908, and subdivisions (a) and (b) of Section
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
1910 in the following settings:
i- i- a) Residences of the homebound.
i- i- i-i- i- i- i- i- i-
(b) Schools.

(c) Residential facilities and other institutions.

(d) Dental health professional shortage areas, as certified by the Office of

Statewide Health Planning and Development in accordance with existing

office guidelines.

A person who willfully, under circumstances that cause risk of bodily
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
harm, serious physical or mental illness, or death, practices, attempts to
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
,practice, advertises, or holds himself or herself out as practicing dental
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
hygiene without having at the time of so doing a valid, unrevoked, and
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
unsuspended license as provided in this article, is guilty of a crime, i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for up to _____ _____. The

substitute site for the practice registered by the licensee pursuant to

Section 1926.3, if both of the following requirements are met:

The licensee's registered place of practice has been rendered and

(b) The licensee's insurer registers the mobile dental hygiene clinic with

the dental hygiene board in compliance with Section 1926.3.

A mobile service unit
i- the owner or operator of the mobile unit shall

notify the dental hygiene board within 60 days of the date on which

dental hygiene services are first delivered in the mobile unit, or the date

on which the mobile unit's application pursuant to Section 1765.130 of

planing.

the control of caries and periodontal disease.

(c) The taking of impressions for bleaching trays and application and

activation of agents with nonlaser, light-curing devices.

(d) The taking of impressions for bleaching trays and placements of in-
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
office, tooth-whitening devices.

A registered dental hygienist may provide, without supervision,
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
educational services, oral health training programs, and oral health
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
screenings. b) A registered dental hygienist shall refer any screened
i-i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
patients with possible oral abnormalities to a dentist for a
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
comprehensive examination, diagnosis, and treatment plan. i- i- i- i- i-
(c) In any public health program created by federal, state, or local law or
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
administered by a federal, state, county, or local governmental entity, a i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
registered dental hygienist may provide, without supervision, dental
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
hygiene preventive services in addition to oral screenings, including, but
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
not limited to, the application of fluorides and pit and fissure sealants. A
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
registered dental hygienist employed as described in this subdivision
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
may submit, or allow to be submitted, any insurance or third-party
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
claims for patient services performed as authorized in this article.
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
No person other than a registered dental hygienist, registered dental
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
hygienist in alternative practice, or registered dental hygienist in
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
extended functions or a licensed dentist may engage in the practice of
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
dental hygiene or perform dental hygiene procedures on patients,
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
including, but not limited to, supragingival and subgingival scaling, dental
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
hygiene assessment, and treatment planning, except for the following
i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i- i-
