While critically analyzing gender pay inequality in sports, it has opened my eyes to the unfair
treatment female athletes face. As a father of two daughters, I want them to have equal
opportunities to succeed in any career path without limitations due to gender bias. Examining
this topic showed me how cultural assumptions devalue women's sports achievements leading
to lower pay, even for outstanding talent and performance equal to men (Fink, 2016).
Recognizing these unjust barriers female athletes encounter pushes me to advocate for
necessary changes so my daughters and all women can realize their full potential without
discrimination. Investigating pay discrimination exposed my own ignorance to gender biases
surrounding professional athletics. I assumed pay gaps resulted purely from market
economics, rather than institutional sexism restricting women's pay regardless of skill, hard
work, or fan viewership. My male identity connects sports ability with masculinity,
propagating stereotypes downplaying women's talent. Confronting this bias shifted my
perspective; I now see supporting women's sports as imperative for equality and growth
potential in athletics altogether. The analysis of my topic will hopefully assist others in
realizing the strength and excitement that female athletes bring to sports competition and
