grown white man should not be comfortable asking for help. Meanwhile, Ms. Rose is a

successful African American therapist who identifies as a lesbian. Ms. Rose is financially

stable and can take on a sliding-scale client. As the counselor, Ms. Rose carries on an

educator and authoritative role in the client-counselor relationship. Reasoning Mr. Smith's

reasoning for seeking counseling is that he feels like he has not been achieving his manly

duty, which makes him feel "in the dumps." Mr. Smith also explained that he's been

experiencing an increase in anxiety over the fear of the president and the changes, which is
