Why do you want to join the AKPSI? - ANSWER As a prospective junior
transfer student at USC in early 2017, I conducted significant research on
campus student organizations in which I aspired to participate before learning of
my acceptance to the university. In the quest for a distinguished professional
fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi stood out as the oldest (1905) and largest business
fraternity in the world (265 active chapters around the country). With brothers
from diverse majors and backgrounds, I thought Alpha Kappa Psi's network
would be unique and unlike any other.
Even then, I didn't know much about the Alpha Zeta chapter of AKPSI other
than the basics, but fortunately, I had the opportunity to ask two friends and
current members about their experiences with AKPSI. Both praised the
organization's professionalism, guidance, network, and everlasting brotherhood.
This sincerity was demonstrated simply by meeting the brothers during the rush
event. Right away at the meet the chapter at the AKPSI house, after meeting the
brothers and witnessing their relationships, I realized these were the people I
wanted to be with for the next two years. Everyone has a "work hard, play hard"
approach.
What can you add to AKPSI? - ANSWER I feel that my diversified
experiences, abilities, and personality will make me a useful potential addition
to this outstanding organization. First and foremost, as a transfer student, I can
reflect on the different experiences that led me to USC. Nothing, in my opinion,
compares to a transfer student's perseverance. Furthermore, my teamwork and
leadership abilities will be useful as Akpsi's sibling. I am proud of my teamwork
skills, which I have cultivated while working part-time in several businesses
since high school. Collaboration and communication skills were essential for
success in these positions. Although I am a team player, I also lead. I've been
voted to leadership positions in school organizations including Student
Government and the Honor Society. I've also cofounded a career club. At work,
I have taken the initiative as a leader among my coworkers in required
situations where a manager or someone in a leadership role is missing.
, What are you hoping to gain from AKPSI? - ANSWER Aside from the brothers
and friendships, I expect to receive the necessary career and professional
coaching. As you can see from my resume, I have not yet had the opportunity to
work in my desired job field. I'm hoping that AKPSI can help me through this.
I've just developed an interest in consulting, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
I remember hearing from an active, Karina, who came in knowing nothing
about consulting prior to akpsi. Also, brother Joann, who was a business major
before switching to computer science under the tutelage of the Akpsi brothers.
Without akpsi, I wouldn't be able to have these mentors at my side when I get
lost. Having others around you who have similar job ambitions and passions
that are comparable or bigger than yours puts you in a better position.
Also, I hope that by working with akpsi, I will be able to improve and develop
the abilities necessary for success in the workplace. I have not been taught these
abilities correctly. I aim to learn how to network more effectively in various
circumstances, as well as improve my communication and speaking skills.
Finally, I expect to be able to participate in the excellent AKPSI active and
alumni network, from which I will profit greatly.
Why did you select your present major? - ANSWER I was interested in both
political science and business, and I felt the IRGB Major would be the ideal
combination of both. Where can I discover the relationships between
international actors while understanding them in the context of the global
economy?
Why did you pick USC? - ANSWER Although it seems cheesy, school pride is
what made me fall in love with USC, especially since it was not available at my
former school, thus there was a strong sense of community. Also, since USC
provides an ideal blend of academic and social activities. And don't forget about
the Trojan Network, which comes with attending this premier college.
