Jorge
Age: 55 years old (lives alone)
Occupation: Commercial Piolet (on medical leave)
Ethnicity: Latine
Reason: Son, Thomas, believes theirs an “issue” with his father, Jorge. Jorge is present to satisfy his son’s
requests, not on his own merit, and “doesn’t know why” his son would make such a request.
Jorge claims to be a social drinker and wants his son to recognize that his drinking is social, not
abusive. Thomas has been trying to get his father into treatment for a while, and states that the only
reason he agreed to this session was because he sustained injuries as “blacking out”; Jorge sustained no
recollection of the events. Jorge still drinks alcohol (2 drinks a day allegedly), but once also used
cigarettes; he gave up 6 months ago after experienced a heart attack. Thomas recollects his father
surpassing his alleged 2 drink minimum, and drinking continuously throughout the day, starting in the
afternoon. Thomas also brings attention to the fact that his father doesn’t experience symptoms after
consuming such large quantities of alcohol. Jorge does not recognize his issue with alcohol and relates his
lack of negative immediate effect to not having an issue with alcohol; he does though experience
cognitive fatigue, specifically in memory. Jorges FAA doctor believes his memory issues are alcohol-
related as well.
Jorge was raised by his biological mother and stepfather, who were 7th Day Adventists. The
summer after Jorge graduated from high school, he and his biological father rekindled their relationship.
While that was happening, Jorge’s bio. father introduced him to wine and hard liquors; through this, Jorge
