A. Corporate Social Responsibility
I have selected Sprint Corporation as an established organization to analyze its code of

ethics. Sprint Corporation is a telecommunications company that provides internet and wireless

phone services. Technology is an important part of society. It helps to drive the economy and

workforce. It is important for companies that specialize in technological services adhere to the

area of corporate social responsibility as they are so involved with society.
After analyzing Sprint’s corporate social responsibility, I notice Sprint centers around

integrity, compliance, and ethical behavior. Sprint’s code of ethics focuses on integrity: in the

workplace with conflicts of interest, in the marketplace with a heavy focus on international

concerns, with customers, and in the community with a focus on community contributions and

the environment.


A1. Lacking CSR

After analyzing the code of ethics, Sprint appears to be lacking in corporate social

responsibility in terms of volunteering and community contributions. Volunteerism allows

organizations to demonstrate a commitment to the community and helps to increase employee

satisfaction. Satisfied employees work better and this can help with an organization’s retention

rate. Volunteerism also allows an organization to build a reputation in the community and with its

stakeholders. According to Sprint’s Scorecard, the company has steadily decreased in

volunteerism since 2013 (Sprint, 2016). In 2013 Sprint went from over 304,000 volunteer hours

to just over 235,000 in 2016.
Organizations are often personified in that they too must be active in society. Companies

must discover and fill a need that communities have while responding to challenges as well.

Community contributions are ways organizations give back to society. Grants and programs

allow companies to do just that. According to Sprint’s Scorecard, the company has also
