communist area. Then North Korean troops marched into South Korea which set
off the war.

control over the Korean Peninsula.

Douglas MacArthur was the leading general for American troops in the Korean
War.
Why did Truman fire Gen. MacArthur? - ANS It took a lot for Truman to fire
General MacArthur, such as when MacArthur wanted to push into North Korea to
completely defeat the communist forces there. This scared Truman because he
was afraid that China would see this as a threat and attack them, but MacArthur
assured him it wouldn't and the Chinese ended up pushing back the Americans
back into South Korea. He fired him mostly because MacArthur wanted to extend
the war into other countries and to cause other problems without even
considering the lives of the men fighting in the war.
