Tell me about a specific biochemistry pathway with enzymes? - Answer: "The electron transport chain
(Coenzymes)

Why did you choose podiatry as opposed to other specialties/ What got you into podiatry - Answer:
Even though I've been interested in a career in medicine for as long as I can remember, my decision to
go into podiatry really wasn't solidified until I decided to shadow a podiatrist. I was intially intered in
oinging to medical school, but I thought it would be silly if I didn't explore my options. I remember
browsing the internet one night and coming across a physician talking about her time during surgical
residency. When I saw DPM, I was really confused; I thought those who went to medical or dental school
were allowed to perdform surgery, I had no idea DPM could.

I decided to shadow a
podiatrist to understand their role in the healthcare field. I shadowed Dr. Robinson and had a positive
experience with it. I spent countless hours with different professions, and I after shadowing Dr. Norshae
robinson, I fell in love.

From my time shadowing a podiatrist, I also like the age range of
patients podiatrists receive. I even found myself really enjoying routine care visits like patients getting
their toenails trimmed, because patients really appreciate you doing something so simple and they may
not have others around them who can provide them that care. t encompasses so many different things
like orthopedics, neurology, dermatology and vascular medicine. In addition there is a surgical
component which really sold me to the profession. The idea of being able to perform both surgery and
conservative treatment is appleaing to me. I also appreciate the relative certainty podiatry offers. With
allopathic or osteopathic medical school, you don't always know what you're going to get yourself into. I
may not know where I will get matched but atleast I know my specialty from the get go. And that's a
huge burden that's lifted.

You struggled with ______. Explain what happened? - Answer: Calculus: This was my first C in the class
during my freshman year. I was still learning the scope of college. My grade reflected what I did and
what I should've done. No matter how many hours I spent studying, watching youtube videos, or going
to the professor's office, I did not want to get extra help, like tutoring. I did not reflect how I was
studying either and that was my downfall for my grade

Tell me about your shadowing experience? - Answer: At Meridian Podiatry, I was able to shadow Dr.
Norshae Robinson at her clinic and the wound care center. I recalled my first time shadowing her, there
was a patient who had an ulcer under her hallux. Previously there was a chance the pt would have her
toe amputated if the ulcer did not heal, but luckily it did and Dr. Norshae and the patient (who was
diabetic) prevented the amputation. Another experience was my first time at the wound care clinic; I
saw Dr. Robinson addressing a wound on the patient's calf. That's when I learned podiatry is more than
foot and ankle, but the lower extremities. Finall, Acosta who just moved into Jax from Phili and
was dealing with diabetes for 19 years and when he had osteomyelitis on his toe h
