- BONES of the SHOULDER
o 3 Bones make up the shoulder girdle:
• Clavicle, spatula, and humerus move AS A GROUP
▪ SCAPULA
o Sits on the posterior wall of the thorax
• Glenoid Fossa
o Makes up ball and socket joint of shoulder
o Comparable to acetabular fossa in pelvis
• Coracoid Process
o “…projects like beak of a bird – named after crow's beak”
• Acromion Process
o “…makes an articulation with lateral part of clavicle”
• Spine of scapula
o Very easy to palpate
• Medial border
o “this border runs virtually parallel to your vertebral column”
• Lateral border

muscles”
• Inferior Angle

• Supraspinous Fossa = ‘superior to spine of fossa’
o Palpable posteriorly

▪ HUMERUS
o Has a shallow fossa so it can move more
▪ Therefore isn’t constrained by an encapsulating fossil like hip
