Rule 70.1 - answer Employees are responbile for their personal safety and
accountable for their behavior as a condition of employment. Emplyees must:
1) Work within the limits of their physical capabilities and not use excessive force to
accomplish tasks
2) Correct or protect any unsafe condition or practice and report to proper authority.
3) Be aware of the surroundings and maintain situational awareness to avoid risks
associated with required taks.
Rule 1.1 - answer Safety is the most important element in performing duties.
Obeying the rules is essential to:
1) Job Safety; and 2) Continued Employement
Rule 1.20 - answer Employees must expect the movement of trains, engines, cars or
other moveable equipment at any time in either direction
Rule 2.3 - answer When a mandatory directive or instruction concerning train
movement has been repeated correctly, the repeat must be acknowledged as correct
Rule 2.6 - answer An employee who does not understand a radio communication or
who receives a communication that is incomplete must NOT act upon the transmission
unless it affects the safety of the railroad or public and then the safe course must be
taken, including stopping the movement until communication is understood
Rule 6.5.1 - answer Remote control movements are considered SHOVING
movements, except when the remote control operator controlling the movement is riding
the lead locomotive in the direction of movement.
Rule 6.7 - answer Before entering a remote control zone, all employees that are not
part of the remote control crew must determine whether the zone is activated.
Employees may receive this information from the remote control operator, other
authorized employee or special instruction.

defective equipment or tools until they are safe to use and They must report those

footing and a good grip on the materials, (2) Keep objects close , upper body erect, lift
smoothly and do not lift and twist at the same time.

that has a heal greater than 45 degrees but no more than 90.

Rule 81.2.1 - answer When walking near or crossing tracks, step over rails, frogs,
switches, guard rails, etc.
Rule 80.5 - answer Employees may not jump from equipment or structures such as
docks, trucks, rail cars, platforms, etc., or across ditches, pits, manholes, or other
openings.
Rule 80.2 - answer When walking, keep your eyes on the pathway. If hazardous
underfoot conditions exist, (a) keep your hands out of pockets for balance, (b) take
short, deliberate steps, with toes pointed outward, and (c) when stepping over objects,
such as rails, be sure your front foot is flat before moving your rear foot.
Rule 81.4.2 - answer Employees are prohibited from getting on or off moving
equipment unless necessary to prevent injury to themselves or others.
Rule 70.4 - answer Unauthorized persons or trespassers on company property must
be told to leave the premises, unless confronting the person(s) would be unsafe. If the

immediate assistance from Railroad Police (RMCC) or local law enforcement
