NUR 2060: Eyes, ears, skinOpen angle glaucoma - ANS--Gradual, blockage of outflow of aqueous humor. Results in
gradual blindness.
-Treatment is aimed at increasing outflow or decreasing the production of fluid.
-90% of glaucoma.
Angle closure glaucoma - ANS--Abrupt closure.
-Blindness in 1-2 days without humor.
Treatment is drug therapy and surgery.
Risks of developing glaucoma - ANS-- Increased intraocular pressure.

- Advanced age.
Tissue Press Method (TPM) - ANS-Immediately after eyedrops, patient closes their eyes then
places balled up clean tissue gently on each eye for 1-2 seconds to allow excess eye drops at
lid to be absorbed.
Mydriasis - ANS-- Dilation.
-Allows observation of inside of eye.
-Pupil diameter widens and it's easier to see structure inside.
Cycloplegia - ANS--Paralysis of the eye.
-Prevents the eye reflex reaction to the light from scope.
-Doesn't allow people to close as it normally would with light.
Allergic Conjunctivitis - ANS-Inflammation of the eyes due to a reaction from allergy-causing
substances such as pollen or pet dander.
Treatments:
-Mast cell stabilizers.
-Histamine-1 receptor blockers (antihistamines).
-Prescription NSAID eyedrops.
-Glucocorticoids (steroid).
-Decongestant.
