1. WELCOME
Welcome to the module in Teaching Practice (TPF2602). You must complete this examination portfolio
(Assessment 51 – Examination Portfolio) as part of the compulsory learning from practice and in practice.
During the four consecutive weeks in the foundation phase, you need to complete:
• 2 weeks in Grade 1
• 1 week in Grade 2
• 1 week in Grade 3
During the four weeks, you will be required to do observations and co-teaching with the teacher. We
hope you will find this module interesting and that it will enrich your teaching career. You must read all
the tutorial letters that you receive, since they contain important and, in some cases, urgent information.
You will receive all these letters upon registration. You can also download them soon after registration.
The tutorial letters are our way of communicating with you about teaching, learning and assessment.
Tutorial Letter 101 contains important information about the assessments for this module and their
contribution to the final mark. We urge you to read it carefully and to keep it at hand when you work
through the study material, complete the assessments and direct questions to us, your lecturers.
Certain general and administrative information about this module is also included in Tutorial Letter 101.
Please study this section of the tutorial letter carefully. Tutorial Letter 101 further contains information
about the first round of teaching practice. You must submit this examination portfolio (Assessment
51) three weeks after you have completed the teaching practice in Grades 1, 2 and 3, and before
the closing date. You will be penalised for every week you delay your submission. The
examination portfolio is the final examination for the module. All closing dates can be viewed
online.
We are aware that problems may occasionally disrupt your studies. Please contact us by e-mail or
telephone should you wish to discuss any challenges that you may encounter. Make sure that you also
