Abnormal skin colors - cyanosis, erythema, pallor, albinism, jaundice, hematoma, bronzing Albinism - - No melanin production due to genetic factors. These people have 2 recessive nonfunctional tyrosinase alleles (no tyrosinase enzyme) apocrine sweat glands - - Larger than eccrine glands but less numerous, are found in the groin, anal region, axilla, areola, and beard areas, secrete a thicker milkier sweat, -due to increased fatty acids in the sweat. -Ducts empty contents into hair follicles. -These are scent glands and do not develop until puberty. Arrector pili muscle - - causes goosebumps Baldness (alopecia) - -thinning of the hair in both sexes basal cell carcinoma - - Least malignant and most common skin cancer - Stratum basale cells proliferate and invade the dermis and hypodermis - Slow growing and do not often metastasize - Can be cured by surgical excision in 99%of the cases Basement membrane (a.k.a.Glassy membrane) - - connects hair bulb to connective tissue Breasts - -found on male and female sexes Bronzing - - Golden brown skin color due to Addison's disease (decreased glucocorticoid hormone) looks like a permanent suntan.
