ATI proctored Ped’s with NGN

This ATI was ROUGH, the course didn’t prep me for it whatsoever. Q’s are more like medsurg and my course was
way more concerned about the developmental stages than preparing the class for this exam.

Took my test on 6/2/23. When looking for studying materials I got frustrated with the inconsistency of answers
between ppl’s documents.
I got a 73%. Here’s what I remember/ what I answered (take it with a grain of salt, this is more to give you a
heads up on what you’re going to see)
At the bottom I’ll attach what I used to study with the questions that I remember being on the exam highlighted.

• Hotspot question for where to assess for k spots in a pt w measles?
I picked the spot in the kids mouth

Ngn Q’s:
• Q ab a kid swallowing a battery or something.. has 3 tabs for you to read thru for the case study. Question
style was fill in the blank/ drop down boxes
I answered the nurse should first maintain the NPO status then prep the pt for a flexible endoscopy

• SATA q for what to do for a kid who arrived to ER r/t MVA. Had 2 ortho surgeries for broken bones or
something along those lines.
o Cant remember the options .. my b

• SATA ab pt w CF and what meds the nurse anticipates the provider will order/ use from the pt’s home
regimen
o The only option I didn’t choose was the one about water soluble vitamins (the pt had deficiencies
in fat soluble vitamins)

• Q about a kid with DIC and what you anticipate the pt labs look like or something
o Pretty sure I put increased prothrombin time. was between that and decreased platelets

• Q ab a kid 2 hours post op and what the nurses priority. You’re given you the kids vitals and MAR
o Think I answered reassess temp bc acetaminophen was PRN on the MAR for fever. was between
that or compare pedal pulses (probably should’ve gone with the latter bc of ABC’s but the kids temp
was like 101 – use your discretion) another ans choice was to ask about pain level but the MAR said
he was on a continuous morphine drip so you cant intervene with their pain even if you wanted to)

Additional questions:
Honestly study all the questions on the following pages bc I’m sure there were q’s on there that I forgot ab.

• Definitely study the precaution questions, there were a couple on the test that are in the bank but I
cant remember specifically
• Q about preventing burns in a toddler, I answered to turn the pot handles to the front of the stove (only
other viable option for the question was to hide electrical wires from sight)
• Q ab Pavlik harness – answer is to put the diaper on under the straps
• Q ab an infant w a subdural hematoma – ans is to implement seizure precautions
• Literally only 1 q on developmental stage, it asked what stage a preschooler would be in. I said
preoperational
• A few questions ab heart failure and dig
