K1 Outline the specific safety practices and procedures that they need to observe when forming
and assembling cable enclosure/support systems (including any specific legislation, regulations or

There are a number if electrical specific legislations and British standards that need to be followed
are are related to the installation of forming an assembling closures and support network systems.
The most important ones of these is HASWA 1974 , Electricity at Work 1989 Regs and BS7671.


HASWA states that it is the duty of both employee and employer in taking care of their own safety
and where practicable that of others whether this is colleagues, visitors or bystanders. This means
that all works need to be undertaken safely – circuits should not be incomplete or untested before
energised. It is important that dead testing is undertaken before any form of live testing. Systems
should be safely isolated following safe isolation procedures whilst they are being constructed or
modified.


The Electricity at work 1989 Regulations state that all systems should be designed to ensure that they
reduce or remove the dangers such as harmonising the wires and making sure that components are
fit for purpose – the wire rating for the correct loads that it will be carrying as an example. No

greater and there may be hazard that include sharp offcuts of metal or chemicals that are concealed
by other mess that in the area. In a clean workplace this removes these hazards and they are easily
identified and dealt with. A messy workplace can make finding a required tool more difficult and
would required cleaning if space was required. Putting back where it belongs means that whoever
