Business Analysis and System Recommendation

, Introduction

The Business Analysis and System Recommendation is used to help evaluate a new

hiring system to facilitate the organizational goals of Maryland Technology Consultants (MTC)

(UMGC, 2022, “Week 8: Developing a System Proposal,” para. 1-4). The first stage of the

analysis will cover the business strategy, competitive advantage, strategic objective, and

decision-making. The possible improvements that may be accomplished with the new system

will be discussed within each of these. The second stage will cover the current hiring process

with needed improvements and expected improvements with the new system. The third stage

will go over the stakeholder interests with specific problems they see and how the new system

can facilitate improvements to correct these problems. The last area under the third stage will

be the system-defining requirements which will list what the user interface should provide and

what stakeholders added to it. The last part of the defining requirements will list the

performance requirements for the system and what stakeholders added to it. The fourth stage

will cover the system justification and implementation areas. The implementation will include

the vendor agreement, what hardware would be needed, the configuration of the new system,

and then testing. The next areas would be for employee training in preparation for the new

system, and then transferring all open applications to the new system. The last area is to ensure

the new system is operating correctly and everything is configured properly. After completing

all four stages of this analysis it will show how the new system can help streamline efficiency

and reduce the overall time of hiring new personnel (UMGC, 2019, Maryland Technology

Consultants Case Study,” pp. 1-7).

, I. Strategic Use of Technology

A. Business Strategy

The business strategy used by MTC for competitive advantage is the

differentiation advantage strategy (UMGC, 2022, “Week 1: Does IT Matter,” para. 8).

The differentiation strategy here at MTC is to increase revenue by winning new

contracts and increasing its reputation by providing outstanding consulting services.

The accomplishment of this is by employing only the best consultants in their field of

business and technology. The current manual hiring process cannot keep up with the

hiring demands because it takes too long, and it is hard to track where the

application is currently. Because of this MTC misses out on getting some of the

talent needed on time. Since MTC is an information technology consultant company,

it should be using innovative solutions to meet its current objectives (UMGC, 2019,

“Maryland Technology Consultants Case Study,” p. 3). When using a cloud-based

system, there is no hardware to buy or configure. By utilizing this system, it will

lower the cost of processing applications, and it will interconnect with all the current

systems. The result of this would decrease the time to process and approve

applicants. Other results would allow increased communication between everyone

in the process and hiring the most qualified applicants promptly (UMGC, 2019, “EZ-

ATS Applicant Tracking Software,” p. 1).
