, 5 Processes that take place in
Plants
Plants are living matter and to survive, there are several processes that take place in
them. In this lesson we will learn about 5 processes that take place in the plants.

Processes in Plants:-

1. Pollination:
To understand, it is first important to understand:

What are Pollinators?

Pollinators are those insects or living organisms which help in the process of
pollination by transferring the pollen grains from the anther (male part) to the
stigma (female part). These pollinators are attracted by the bright colours of the
petals.

Examples of Pollinators:

1. Bees=Insects
2. Human/People
3. Lions=Animals

Process of Pollination:

When a pollinator (bee) flies on the flower to suck nectar, found at the base of the
sepals, some of the pollen from the anther sticks on to their body. When they fly off,
the pollen stuck to their body falls off onto the stigma of the flower. If the pollens fall
off on to the stigma of the same flower, it is self-pollination. If the pollen falls on
to the stigma of another flower, this is called cross-pollination.
