In your opinion, what is the difference between being a
learner and being a scholar? Justify your claims.

Scholar, a synonym of student tends to carry more weight. While both
scholar and student are nouns, the difference between being a learner and
being a scholar can be differentiated by the type or degree of learning. For
example, typically students are currently in a formal or informal academic
setting while being a scholar denotes a knowledgeable person whereby their
knowledge is guided by others or their own self-direction, independent
interest in learning (Quora, n.d.).

As a doctoral student it is important to embrace being or becoming a
scholar. In particular with the online learning environment, simply being a
student does not promote self-directed, reflective learning. As a doctoral
student, I believe we are seeking to become scholars of our own DNP project
topics. We are searching for ways to improve patient outcomes while
adhering to policy and procedures set in motion by our clinical sites as well
as GCU.
