familia Retroviridae, causante del Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia

El VIH es un virus que causa que una persona desarrolle eventualmente
el SIDA, la etapa mas avanzada de la infección, Su característica
principal consiste en un periodo de incubación prolongado que
desemboca en enfermedad después de varios años. Existen dos tipos
del VIH, llamados VIH-1 y VIH-2. El primero de ellos es más virulento e
infeccioso y el segundo es menos contagioso.
