There are 9 steps in perofrming chest compressions in an adult what is 1? - ✔✔Position youself on the
victims side



Step 2 - ✔✔Make sure the victim is lying on his back on a firm, flat surface. If the vitim is lying
facedown carefully roll him over



Step 3 - ✔✔Remove clothes that are covering the victims chest. You need to be able to see their skin



Step 4 - ✔✔Put the heel of one hand on the center of the victims bare chest btwn the nipples



5. Step 5 - ✔✔Put heel of your hand on top of the first hand



Step 6 - ✔✔Straigthen your arms and position your shoulders directly over your hands



Step 7 - ✔✔Push hard and fast. Press down 1 1/2 to 2 inches w/ each compression. For each chest
compression, make sure you push straight down on the victims breastbone



10. Step 8 - ✔✔At the end of each compression, make sure you allow the chest to recoil or re-expand
completely. Full chest recoil allows more blood to refill the heart btwn chest compressions. Incomplete
chest recoil will reduce the blood flow created by chest compressions
