• What do we mean by “organisational”?
• Why “organisational economics”?
• Economic organisations are created entities within and through which
people interact to reach individual and collective goals.
• The highest level organisation is the economy as a whole.
• One level down, we find firms, unions, committees, clubs,
churches, government agencies, etc..
• This course is organisational economics, so we’ll be mostly
focusing on firms
• First, a bit of a refresher on basic microeconomic theory of firms...
