Unit 16: Visual Merchandising

Visual merchandising:
Visual merchandising is displaying products and services
in a way designed to attract customers’ attention. There
are some advantages of using visual merchandising. You
can increase the number of customers who see and then
enter your business. It can make hard to move products
more attractive to sell, potentially without reducing the
price. There are also some disadvantages of visual
merchandising. New signage, fixtures and improving your
retail outlet can become expensive. But customer loyalty
increases if you plan effective visual merchandising.

Asda:
Asda is a British Supermarket and headquartered in
Leeds, England.Asda was founded
in 1949 by Peter and Fred
Asquith.Nowadays, there are
165,000 employees in asda. In
January 2017, there were 631 Asda
stores in uk.

Self layout:

, The design of an Asda plays a vital role in visual
merchandising as it
can help in lifting
sales and attracting
customers.
A well-designed
layout of a store
impel customers to
browse the whole
store and shop more
while doing this.
However, the design
of the store can be
picked randomly.
Also, it is selected based on the size of the store, type of
the store, and the nature of the goods sold in the store.
How you dispose of goods in-store also impacts the
decisions of customers. Products must be placed in an
methodical manner, easily accessible , and different
choices should be provided to customers to choose from.
The place of goods on the shelf of the store matters a lot
in its sales. As an illustration, the products that are
displayed at eye levels are more likely to be viewed by
customers than the goods placed at the top of the shelf.
Asda workers are likely to put their products at their
customers' eye level. For instance , for 1-5 years old
products will put on the last self to match their eye
levels.
