so.

Questions 1

1.1 In paragraph 1, the author states that bullying is a word synonymous with the type of
conduct expected in school playgrounds. It is not a word that is usually associated with
the workplace. In your own words, discuss 2 plausible factors from the text that may
contribute to the prevalence of workplace bullying. Provide 2 of your own examples.

Workplace bullying happens when some people use their power to hurt others at work. This often
happens because of the way companies are set up. In many companies, there are people in
charge who have a lot of power over others. Sometimes, these people use their power to be
mean to the people who work under them.

Another reason for workplace bullying is the culture of the company. Some companies focus a
lot on being better than others and being tough. In these places, bullying might happen more
because people think its okay to be mean to get ahead.

For example, in a workplace where people are praised for being tough and winning at any cost,
some employees might bully others to show they are in charge or to get what they want.
