A. COURSE: GNRS 556 Intermediate Medical Surgical Care of the Adult


SEMESTER/YEAR: Spring/2019

UNITS: 7 units (3 units of theory and 4 units of practicum)

DAY/TIME: Tuesday/1300-1600

LOCATION: Monrovia Campus, Room TBA

CREDIT HOUR Following APU Credit Hour policy, to meet the identified
POLICY: student learning outcomes of this course, the expectations
are that this 7 unit course, delivered over a 16 week term,
will approximate 3 hours/week of classroom, or direct
faculty instruction and 12 hours/week of clinical or
laboratory work

In addition, out of class student work will approximate a
minimum of 9 hours each week.

C. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to build on the base of medical-surgical nursing knowledge from GNRS
555. The course focuses on comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute needs for continu-

restorative care setting, or long-term care setting. Prerequisites: Admission to the ELM program;
successful completion of GNRS 555.
