N. B PARAPHRASE YOUR WORK TO AVOID PLAGARISM ( CHANGE WORDS!!!)

, Activity 1

1.1 Environmental education (EE) processes need to take into consideration
the history and context behind certain environmental issues and their
implications for communities and their lived context.
1.1.1 State any three environmental issues faced by the South African citizens.
Water pollution: As the population of people moving to urbanized areas increase,
the demands for food supply also grow. As a mean to keep up with these high
demands, the use of fertilization and sewage contamination also incline.

Oil spills: South Africa is situated at the very tip of Southern Africa. This location
causes South Africa to become very vulnerable to oil spills.

Air pollution: During the winter, pollutants are trapped in the air due to the high
pressure, and are unable to move or dissipate. In the summer, due to the low
pressure, pollutants are dissipated through unstable circulation.

1.1.2 Discuss the implications of the above-mentioned environmental
challenges.

Water pollution increase some water bone diseases. Diseases increase which may
cause illnesses such as: diarrhoea, hay fever, skin rashes, vomiting, fevers,
gastroenteritis, muscle and joint pains, and eye irritations

Oil spills: High levels of oil is transported from the Middle East to Europe and
America along the coast, making Southern African's water and ecosystem at risk to
being severely damaged.

Air pollution: Exposure to high levels of air pollution can cause a variety of adverse
health outcomes. It increases the risk of respiratory infections, heart disease and
lung cancer. Both short- and long-term exposure to air pollutants have been
associated with health impacts. More severe impacts affect people who are already
ill.
