Unit 9: Learning Aim B & C
Carry out the planning, execution, monitoring and controlling out an
IT project, using an appropriate methodology
Introduction
We have been asked to create a program for the software Development Company as junior employees
to manage the scoring system at an upcoming tournament. Our task is to build and construct a
computer application to administer a tournament's scoring system. As junior employees our job is to
design that program which we will design using NetBeans platform. NetBeans provides various
interfaces and features to develop the computer program using java. We will be designing two models
for two different devices, one for windows and the other for mobile users as it will give a better
perspective of the program from both sides in terms of mobility. We will be using Java language in
NetBeans environment to develop and process the computer program.

Client Requirements
The college will be running a tournament for students to compete in a series of events for prizes, the
requirements for the Tournament scoring system are, the participants may enter the tournament as
individuals or as part of a team and it is expected that there will be 4 teams, each with 5 members and
there will be 20 spaces for individual competitors. Each team will complete five events and each event
will be determined as a team or individual event. The event will vary in type, from sporting to academic
challenges. The points will be allocated to the individuals and teams according to their rank within each
event; the points awarded for each event are yet undecided and the college are willing to hear any
suggestions we may have. In addition, the college would like to include the possibility of entering for one
event only.

Meetings
This is our team meeting preview, we are the team of three, we discuss about our assignment and
shared our design and assignments and worked as team.

We made meeting calls on different days to know each other thoughts and opinions to get the party’s
feedback and that to improve on, in addition we have set up and met all the requirements as it will be
user friendly and easier to use.

Flowchart
The waterfall model contains steps to design which helps to illustrate the software development process
in linear sequential flow. The steps are requirement gathering and analysis, system design,
implementation, integration and testing, development of system and maintenance. This means that any
phase in the development process begins only if the previous phase is complete.

We will employ the Waterfall Process Model, which was the first to be introduced. This model will be
used since it is simpler to use, and the assignment criteria meet the requirement of this flowchart. It
consists of six basic phases that we will take to complete this work’s Requirement collection and
analysis,

system design, implementation, integration and testing, system development, and maintenance are the
phases. We are also going to utilize draw.io to create flowchart diagrams that demonstrate how the
software will operate for each occurrence.

Another flowchart
above since it is
easy to use and

understand. We have used a flowchart to plan the program before coding, this way we will not be
confused and stay on track, which means following the client’s requirement. The program flow chart is
an illustration that uses prescribed symbols to describe various operations or judgments required in a
program.
