Instructor developed small group activity where learners need to separate of objectives into course and unit Read: Adams (2015)
Read: Review Stanny (2016)
Instructor develop handout that presents Bloom’s revised taxonomyThe small group will demonstrate 90% or higher accuracy in the sorting of the objective cards.
Rationale for lesson-specific learning objectives: Objective #1 is focused on the cognitive domain of learning. The reason that this objective is important is that it is at the analyzing level of Bloom’s taxonomy. This would require the learner to use facts about the two types of objectives, bring the facts together, and then distinguish or analyze between the types of objectives. This is consistent with Knowles’ work that identifies how
adult learners wish to apply information to their practice. Nurse educators need to be able to distinguish between larger or broader course objectives and the smaller or more narrowed lesson specific objectives for evaluation purposes.
Rationale for instructional methods: The use of lecture with Power Point and You Tube video allows information to be shared in a manner useful for visual and auditory learners. For kinesthetic learners the separating of index cards with examples of the two types of objectives into appropriate groups is useful for learning. By presenting information using lecture and video, the learners can acquire the foundational information/facts needed to distinguish between the two types of objectives. Whereas the small group work allows the learners to apply the learned information by separating the types of objectives. The YouTube video is presented by an educator who demonstrates how to write objectives for a lesson being presented so the learners can see an experienced educator develop objectives. This will provide a real-life example 2This study source was downloaded by 100000849840424 from CourseHero.com on 12-17-2022 05:54:18 GMT -06:00
