Unit 9 – IT Project Management

Initial Idea

The game that I will be creating on construct 3 will be targeted for 7-11 year olds. This is my target

audience as the game is being created in order to keep the younger people more entertained and

bring them some type of distraction from the real world. This is why I have chosen the age range of 7

to 11-year olds as my target age range is designed to keep the younger audience entertained for

when they are bored and need something to keep them distracted. The game will not include any

gore or violence as this can have a negative influence on them as they may be influenced by this. The

requirements of this game are to keep the game easy to play and to incorporate as many levels as

possible to keep them distracted and entertained from their real-life problems. As they play more

and complete each level, the following will become harder for them to complete. This done by

making it harder to complete it a shorter amount of time. A scoreboard will also be required to

record the score when collecting the items to complete the level.

Which Project Management Style I will be using & why

I am going to use the Agile Methodology to develop the game. As a result, the agile method

encourages top-to-bottom project management, which is contrary to waterfall management. To

address this concern, top-down estimation makes use of the information currently available and

provides estimates of gross levels. The team can react quickly to adversity and changing market

demands by learning just enough to get started and continuing to incorporate more knowledge as

work outputs evolve.

User Requirements

For my game, any child between 7 and 11 years old will be a suitable audience. This game is

designed to entertain the audience and make the kids want to play it again and again. The client has

the following requirements:

 Sprites

 Control

 Layout

 Navigation

 Hazards

 Lives

 Scoring

 Levels

 Time

After a brainstorming session, I have decided to make the game as simple as possible and make It

entertaining for the user. The objective will be for the user to collect as many items as possible in the

set time frame that is given on the level. For example, the user will need to collect 10 items in 1

minute to advance to the next level. Then the following level will increase the number of items but

also decrease the timeframe that is given, which makes each level progressively harder. The game

will be single player the user will be playing against the game and no other user is needed in order

for the game to function which is key to the target audience. The game will include many levels in

order to keep the user entertained as only one level would mean the user will finish the game

quickly and not play very often as they have completed it already. The levels will be time based in

order to create an extra challenge for the user as the time element will mean they have to complete

the level within that set time frame and if they don’t then they will fail to progress to the following

level.
