Design brief:
The purpose of the 3D model to act as the end room for the lost and alone video game.

The purpose of the 2D graphic would be to entice viewers to buy and play the Lost and Alone game.

The target audience of these digital products will be teens and adults, as the lost and alone game and film is
a horror game aimed at this demographic.

The requirements for the 2D graphics would be for it to be an appropriate size for a poster. The poster
colour is mostly likely to be dark colours, such as black and grey, therefore the 2D graphic will have to
follow this colour scheme. It must also use chiaroscuro, using dark and light to create a 3D illusion.

The 2D graphic also must relate to the game and film franchise, otherwise it will be out of place, and
unnecessary. The 2D graphic must also have its most visually appealing parts front and center, and not in
places where the title, or other objects of the poster would obstruct it. The poster will include the title of
the franchise. It must also include a hand, and a ghostly figure's face, reaching out to the viewer, with an
abandoned graveyard background to increase the sense of horror within the poster. It must also be
interesting and enticing for the viewers to look at, otherwise they would not be inclined to buy the game,
which is the main purpose of the poster. The poster must be exciting and unique to attract more viewers.

The requirements for the 3D graphic model are that it should match the game's art style, otherwise it will
look out of place and will not be immersive for the player. The 3D model must also be modelled well and
should not impact the game negatively.

The 3D model will also include a door, a window, a table and walls.

Evidence of research being done:
Many horror game box arts and posters typically use the colours white, grey, black, red and brown. They
also typically include someone in the frame, either the villain or the hero of the game, along with a main
focus.

,Evident in these pictures, the colour scheme creates a sense of the unknown, which in turn makes them
mysterious. The colour scheme is not made up of many colours.

The titles of the game also stand out from the background and images of the box art, which is something I
will replicate.

A description of the visual themes and aesthetics:
The lost and alone film is a horror film. Therefore, both of the 3D model and the 2D graphic will be dark and
gritty. They will only consist of mainly 2 or 3 dark colours, such as red and grey. If the 3D model contains
windows, the windows will be broken and badly damage to match the game and films aesthetic. However,
the game cover will not be too gory, as it may draw away potential buyers.

,I will use a similar style to this cover art, mainly dark colours, but brighter ones that contrast (chiaroscuro).
The bold red Z draws viewers into the cover, and then to the surrounding darker falling bodies, creating a
sense of curiosity and intensity.

Legal and ethical considerations:
The graphics must not infringe any copyrighted material. If the graphic or model was inspired based off
something, it cannot be a 1:1 replica of it and has to be different otherwise it will infringe on the copyright
of the original work.

I can also use graphics/images that have a creative commons license that allows people to use the graphic
they have created for commercial use needing credit for the creation or no credit for my 2D or 3D graphic.

Due to owning the lost and alone IP, I can use all Lost and Alone material without any legal repercussions.

The 3D model or 2D graphic cannot be offensive to any certain group or religion.

The 2D graphic must not have any faces that look like a celebrity, unless permission was given, as it could
be deemed as using their face for commercial purposes.

Hardware and software requirements:
The software requirements for making these graphics would be Adobe illustrator for the 2D graphic, and
3dsmax for the 3d model. These are industry standard programs when making graphics, and work on the
latest operating systems.

Because I am using Photoshop, the game cover will be a bitmap image instead of a vector image, which
isn't a problem as the game cover will not need to be scaled, as game box art covers are the same
dimensions, therefore the game cover does not need to be scaled up significantly. The 2D graphic will be a
in the PNG format, as it is a lossless bitmap file format. For the 3D model, I will use the FBX format, as it is
widely used in the gaming industry.

For the hardware side, to run these programs, I will need at least 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 64 bit AMD or Intel
multi core processor and 9GB free disk space.

, Use of compression:
The 2D graphics will be in a PNG format, which is lossless. This is good as the graphic will have a smaller file
size, whilst not losing quality. The 3D models cannot be compressed. The resolution of the 2D graphic
however will not be decreased during the compression process, as this will greatly decrease the quality of
the image and will make the box art unappealing.

User experiences:
The graphics will be able to be understood by anyone. They will also be of high quality. The 3D graphic
should perfectly fit the game, and should not look out of place as this will take the player out of the
immersion of the game. The quality should be high enough that players can interpret what objects are
inside the room.

The 2D graphic must stand out from other game box art, otherwise viewers will be less interested in the
game. The 2D graphic cannot look unappealing or disturbing to the eyes, as this will just further draw away
potential buyers of the game.

Intended delivery platform:
The 3D graphics intended delivery platform will be for consoles and PC, meaning they have to be of high
quality.

The delivery platform for the 2D graphic will be a poster

Sources of the image:
All the images I will use will have a creative commons license that will allow me to use and edit the image
for commercial use, or I will create the images myself, therefore I will not face any legal repercussions.
