, DESIGN BRIEF:
I, Cassidy Rammanhor, am the head designer of Shilo Architecture. I will be designing phase 1 of a time share unit developed by
Landings & co. The purpose of phase 1 is to give prospective investors a view of what the project will look like when built (on STAND
82) which is between the municipal sewerage line and south-eastern building line. The client will be purchasing the two surrounding
plots of land (STAND81 and STAND 83) and the three properties will form part of an upmarket time share resort. Landings & co.
would like to design a small resort to display the natural beauty of the area. The design must include a general reception, a timber
deck, small coffee shop, administration office, male and female facilities, a small pool area and a change room. All facilities must be
disability friendly and all floors must be on one level.
My role will be leading my team to develop a design for the Landings & co. Resort. I will consult the client, inspect the site and then
create a design brief that will include all the specifications, constraints and a management plan. Then I will conduct research on
three different components of the design: the aluminum stacking doors, the small indoor pool and the large timber deck (including
railings). I will then design two possible solutions in the form of floor plans and from there choose the best option. The final solution
will be presented in the forms of a floor plan, two elevations, a detailed section, detailed two-point perspective and a site plan.
Everything will be compiled into a single portfolio and delivered to the client. I will then oversee the construction of the building.
CONSTRAINTS:
1. Time- the plan needs to be completed before the investors meeting on the 12/05/2021
2. Space- must be between the two plots of land and include a total floor space of no more than 280m squared
3. The humidity of the area
4. Protecting the surrounding wildlife
5. Transporting resources onto the site
6. Availability of resources in the area
7. Safety of construction workers who will have to work on the build
8.
9. Weather. (if it rains it could cause a landslide or river could overflow and make inhibit work)
10. The location of the build. (on a slope and near a river)
