Which, if any, of the healthy habits do you already use in your daily regimen?
Before nursing school, I often found myself having to remove and recharge. I would remove myself
from any stressful environment (or unimportant tasks) and clear my mind of inundated thoughts.
This helped me to recharge and be ready for any new or upcoming tasks. This technique is
comparable to “a passive ‘oh well’ attitude toward distracting thoughts.”
Are there habits mentioned in the video that you do not currently use?
There many ways to meditate to development mindfulness. Mindfulness is the attentiveness in the
present moment. I never really considered that definition until now. I’m a firm believer of living in
the moment and enjoying the moment, but I never considered how attentive I am within the
moment. Body Scan Meditation was introduced to me in the unit videos. In the method, the body
is scanned from head to toe by focusing on various parts of the body and the sensations that affect
them.
Which habits will you consider adding into your routine?
The 4-7-8 Breathing Meditation was something that interested me to try more often. While
performing the action, the room immediately got quiet and I focused solely on my breathing. This is
a rather quick method to get a calming attitude. Although, I struggled at first with keeping breath
held for 8-count period of time, this will eventually help my breathing stamina while going on long
jogs. I look forward to other benefits the 4-7-8 meditation will bring.
