The Election Integrity Act is a policy that discusses what voting procedures would be
introduced into legislation to change specific voting procedures that are going on in the state
of Georgia (Georgia General Assembly, 2022). This social issue had to be addressed because
there were a lot of unethical problems going on when it came to the elections. This bill was
brought about because there were too many complaints about how it took some counties
longer than others to release their final votes and why the results on election night were not
released on election night (Fowler, 2021). The policy was created to ensure that everyone's
votes were counted and help shorten getting the results. People were starting to lose faith in
the process of election. This policy is meant to eliminate the massive amounts of fraud and
repression (Fowler, 2021). As social workers, it is our job to help address and implement
change within our community. We as social workers must continue to fight to make sure that
everyone is treated with equality no matter what their background or social class is. The
social problem makes it harder for individuals to submit absentee ballots promptly.
Which population(s) is/are impacted by the problem?
The population of individuals who are affected by this change in policy is those
who are people of color. When this policy tightened the issue of ID requirements, it affected the
number of voter turnout people of color (Reyes, 2021). Many people living in communities with
less advantage were affected drastically because they could no longer vote over the weekends. It
caused a lot of individuals not to have the ability to vote at all. Taking this away did not create an
equal advantage for everyone's vote to count. This policy did not consider the middle working
class, who could not necessarily miss work to cast their vote. These individuals may not be able
to miss work or have the proper identification to send in all the requirements needed to submit an
